Ongoing Home Hospice Service for the Community
The Memorandum of Understanding for the EP Home Hospice Service has been extended by the Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation (EPCF) and Matthew Flinders Home (MFH).
The EP Home Hospice Service provides out of hours and weekend support for terminally ill patients who wish to remain in their own homes for their last few weeks. This provides 24 hour care in coordination with the Port Lincoln Health Services Palliative Care Team.
Since 2017 when this service became permanently available 20 plus families have been assisted.
The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation Board manages the funds and donations received, while Matthew Flinders Home provide the team of associated professionals and volunteers that provide the service.
Ongoing fundraising and support is needed for this service to continue. The Book Bazaar Charity Bookshop in Port Lincoln has just celebrated its 6th year with its profits both supporting the service and other needs on the Eyre Peninsula. Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation – Education Fund 2019 Tertiary Scholarship Recipients
The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation Board has awarded Tertiary Scholarships of $2000 in 2019 to Olivia Dunn, Lily Matena and Olivia Murray. The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation Board congratulates the recipients and wish them well with their studies. The EPCF established the Education Fund in 2016, and has received applications from all areas of the Eyre Peninsula. The purpose of the Tertiary Scholarships in 2019 is to provide funding for Eyre Peninsula educated students who wish to or are studying at a university in South Australia after completion of year 12.
Olivia Dunn is from Cleve, attended Cleve Area School and is now studying a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) Business (Finance) at University of South Australia.
Lily Matena is from Port Lincoln, attended Port Lincoln High School and is now studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy) at Flinders University.
Olivia Murray is from Port Lincoln, attended St Joseph’s School and is now studying a Bachelor of Nursing at University of Adelaide.
