On Friday November 9 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, more than 750 tourism industry representatives attended the 2018 South Australian Tourism Awards.

Tourism’s Night of Nights recognises businesses who have demonstrated great success and who set the benchmarks for best business practice. Port Lincoln’s Calypso Star Charters won big, taking home the RAA People’s Choice Tourism Award for Experience and/or Service. Voted for by the public, the award celebrates outstanding commitment to delivering service excellence. They were also named South Australia’s best Adventure Tourism experience as well as winning a silver medal in the Tourist Attractions category.

Three other local businesses also received either silver or bronze medals at the gala. Adventure Bay Charters took home silver in the Ecotourism category, Chinta Air won bronze for their Specialised Tourism Services, and first-time entrant Perlubie Sea was awarded bronze in the Hosted Accommodation group.

South Australian Tourism Industry Council (SATIC) Chief Executive Officer, Shaun de Bruyn praised the award winners, saying “the standards for achieving a Tourism Award are extremely high, making it a highly prestigious accolade which raises brand reputation and consumer awareness amongst an extremely competitive industry.”
