A new state award has been announced to celebrate the important role of agriculture in regional communities – the South Australian Ag Town of the Year Award.
The award was launched on National Agriculture Day 2018 by Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone, and will recognise towns embracing all aspects of primary industries.
Minister Whetstone explained the motivation behind the award saying,
“We want to acknowledge the positive impact agriculture has on regional towns and the flow on effect this has on a township, on community members and on the state as a whole. The Ag Town of the Year Award will also highlight how our communities can learn from each other and will enable them to grow.”
The Ag Town Award is going to be a part of Brand SA’s 2019 South Australian Regional Showcase, which celebrates and promotes individuals, groups and organisations who have worked to benefit regional South Australia.
More information and guidelines for the South Australian Ag Town of the Year Award will be released soon.
