The Hon David Ridgway MLC, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment and the South Australian Tourism Industry Council (SATIC) held exclusive industry events on Eyre Peninsula in Whyalla, Port Lincoln and Ceduna on July 11, 12 and 13 respectively.

All events were extremely well attended with the Minister acknowledging, in particular, the work of Regional Development Australia Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula, the Eyre Peninsula Local Government Association and it’s eleven member Councils, Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management and Aboriginal organisations on joining together to develop the Far West Aboriginal Tourism Strategy, the Eyes on Eyre initiative and other visitor economy marketing initiatives.

Minister Ridgway indicated the region was a stand out for its collective attempts to set out a regional vision and showed great capacity for collaboration and efficient use of resources between government, industry and the community.  The panel discussions held covered many of the important challenges and opportunities facing the Eyre Peninsula, in particular our potential for growth in improving visitor infrastructure and new product development.
