Artist Cam Scale is well underway in turning Viterra’s Kimba Silos into a dramatic welcome to locals and visitors to the outback of Eyre Peninsula.  Now is the time to travel if you want to catch a glimpse of the artist at work.

Joining South Australia’s burgeoning silo art trail and setting the scene for the Igniting Kimba Art Program, this new installation adds just one more reason to pack up the family, jump in the car and explore a region that has a geological magnetism that only a look up close can reveal.

Kimba is located halfway across Australia, between Sydney on the east and Perth on the west coast. It is a gateway to the majestic Gawler Ranges.

Chief Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia, Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula, Dion Dorward said the physical transformation of the silos is a sight to behold and a rare opportunity to see an artist like Mr Scale display their talent.

“Kimba already has an art installation worthy of a trip in the Whites Knob Lookout sculptures of Edward John Eyre and the Aboriginal men on whose bush skills he so often relied. This new silo artwork installation just means more time spent in a town that won’t disappoint,” Mr Dorward said.

“I’m very impressed by the community of Kimba and their District Council that has worked together to develop the Ignite Kimba Art Program, attracting $50k in community donations and $40k in grant funds to set in motion this magnificent addition to the Eyre Peninsula.

“Our outback touring route is a little-known treasure, with an extra gem just added,” Mr Dorward said.
