Registrations are now open for residents of Kimba and Wudinna who wish to participate in an agricultural machinery night travel trial. 

The District Council of Kimba and Wudinna District Council are looking to carry out a night trial for agricultural vehicles and combinations up to 6.1m wide in collaboration with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

Anticipated to start in February 2019, the trial will be used to establish the productivity benefits and potential community and road safety impacts of moving large agricultural vehicles at night.

It will run over a period of 6 to 12 months within the boundaries of the District Council of Kimba and Wudinna District Council, and to gain the most accurate information trial participants will be encouraged to record the number of trips taken as well as times of travel for each vehicle.

To be eligible agricultural equipment/machines and/or agricultural combinations must meet the following dimensions:

  • up to 6.1 m wide and/or
  • 25m long and up to 30.5m long and/or
  • 4.3m high and up to 4.9m high
