The first of RDAWEP’s Jobs First Employment Program applications has been successful.

The project is a paid three month work experience program at the Iluka Resources Jacinth-Ambrosia site, including training in general on-the-job and selected surface mobile equipment (SME), for eighteen Aboriginal (Far West Coast Traditional Owner) jobseekers.  The primary objective is to establish a pool of experienced and competent jobseekers.
The jobseekers in question will obtain meaningful employment (as labour hire personnel) and an increased eligibility for future employment.  Local employers will have access to a ready and available skilled workforce in the medium and longer-term.  As it relates to Iluka Resources, this includes identifying a selection of participants with the talent for permanent employment within the next 12-18 months, should these opportunities arise.

RDAWEP’s application to provide Career Development Services (CDS) in the City of Port Lincoln has been successful.

The CDS will provide face-to-face and workshop style services delivered from RDAWEP’s premises where appropriate, and will be complimented via e-mail, phone or sms.  Port Lincoln City’s workforce is divers and mainly concentrated within the city limits and is affected by the seasonal nature of tourism, grain handling and, fishing and farming.  Cross Skilling is a focus of RDAWEP’s CDS efforts, which allows clients to shift between these seasonal industries.
