NAIDOC Week 2017

July 2, 2017 @ 8:00 am - July 9, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.

The 2017 theme –  Our Languages Matter – aims to emphasise and celebrate the unique and essential role that Indigenous languages play in cultural identity, linking people to their land and water and in the transmission of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, spirituality and rites, through story and song.

NAIDOC events on Eyre Peninsula:

  • On Monday 3rd July, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) are hosting the Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation (CAC) NAIDOC march and flag raising in Ceduna, followed by a BBQ lunch.  Expressions of interest are being sought from local service providers for the provision of information tables/stalls in the Memorial Hall.
