Regional Development Australia Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula (RDAWEP) has been successful with a project application to the Department of State Development’s ‘Jobs First Employment Projects’ to support West Coast Youth and Community Support.
The project will also partner with Career Employment Group to deliver five units of competency which have been selected to meet the needs of the Youthoria cinema operations. These skills have also been identified by RDAWEP as being in demand in the broader hospitality sector.
By creating jobs at Youthoria in customer service, cinema operations, food preparation and supervisory skills, candidates will be job ready in a range of tourism, hospitality, retail, customer service and supervisory positions in Port Lincoln and the Lower Eyre Peninsula region.
These units are expected to have a positive impact on economic activity, including Indigenous economic participation through a targeted approach to engaging Aboriginal participation and business outcomes.
Youthoria Cinema is a community facility and increased commercial use of the youth hub and its recently upgrade kitchen facilities will enhance its capacity as a profit making catering enterprise.
Hi, I am very interested in this program for students of Yalata Anangu School. At the moment, we are sending students to Yulara for Work Ready Skills and the travel costs are astronomical. If there is a chance for our students to gain these skills within the State we would be very keen to be onboard.
